For people who want to view satellite TV on their PC, there are quite a few options available out there. Most of them claim to enable the viewing of 3000++ channels from all over the world, as well as allow the recording of those shows or videos. This is followed by the great claim of allowing one to completely dispose of his or her cable subscription, and all of its attendant bills. One such option is Isatellitelink. Not only does it claim to do these things as well, but it promises several other features that are not found in other similar software. These are:
DVD Movie Downloads. Isatellitelink grants the user a gold membership at moviescapital, a site where DVD movies can be viewed and downloaded, either directly or through their corresponding servers. Such a membership comes with the package, and will not entail subsequent payments. On the plus side, this will instantly give people convenient access to many popular movies, and even some obscure titles. This site is also safer for your computer than other movie streaming sites which may contain malware and other viruses. On the downside however, the selection is by no means exhaustive, and it does take a decent connection to download the movies at a reasonable speed.
Stream Downloader. Isatellite link also enables the downloading of streaming videos, from many (if not most) of the video streaming sites online, including YouTube. This downloader works in a similar fashion to many third party software which are more dedicated to the task (multi-downloading, queuing, etc). On the plus side, this will complement the ability to watch streaming videos, because as mentioned earlier, its sites do not contain an exhaustive list of all the movies out there. So if the user can find that movie in another site which can stream it, then recording it will be possible. On the downside, most of these videos are low res, which is not so good if you’re expecting only HD quality.
Media Converter. In connection to its stream downloading capabilities, Isatellite link is also able to convert any downloaded video to several formats. Currently, these formats are 3GP, m4v, FLV, AVI, MOV, MP3, MP4, WAV, and a few others. These formats cover almost all the popular mobile devices, and supports major video players. It should be noted though, that this ability is not very unique to this software, but is pretty standard with most third party stream downloaders out there. On the plus side, it does come in handy for storing movies on a CD or a mobile device.
In the end, users of Isatellitelink will be able to get what is advertised by the site, namely the ability to view many channels and movies. However, it should be noted that no network streams their videos 24/7 for the PC (currently). Instead, they only stream samples, or a fraction, of their daily shows. Therefore, any movies or channels that Isatellitelink or any similar software will pick up is fairly limited. For viewers who are ok with this limitation, then Isatellitelink gets a full recommendation for functionality. However, for viewers who wish to follow very specific shows, a cable subscription is still necessary.
